Music for Autism Fundraiser Huge Success in Washington D.C.

by Pat Blute.

April 10, 2010.

Holly Hamilton, Music for Autism board member and National Symphony Orchestra violinist, was joined by pianist Brad Clark and National Philharmonic principle cellist Lori Barnet for a salon concert and dinner at the home of Brad Clark in Washington D.C. Robert Accordino, US Founder and President of Music for Autism, noted the “trio performed chamber music by Brahms, Mendelssohn and Beethoven. The setting was exactly how such music was meant to be enjoyed, and there was an amazing parallel of the guests, who numbered 40, being asked to support the same level of quality music to be performed for the families we serve together nationwide. It was remarkable!”

DC board member Lisa Olson and several board members from the Ivymount School were also in attendance. Lisa stated, “It was simply magical… When our superb musicians began to play, the music was like a river of honey flowing through the room. It is absolutely the most moving experience imaginable to be in the immediate presence of such beauty. The concert was brilliant. Then we had a fabulous dinner consisting of shrimp, kale, grilled vegetables, some delectable combination of bulgar and rice, and for dessert, flourless chocolate cake, crème brulee, sweet fresh fruit, coffee and tea.  I know my readers are envious, but I cannot let this extraordinary evening go unrecorded in detail.”
The evening raised $3,000 for Music for Autism and will be certainly be remembered by guests for some time.
