Runners for M4A at the New York City Half Marathon

by Pat Blute.

Music for Autism encapsulates the giving spirit in many different ways. Performance. Participation. Listening. Sharing.

The goal to provide more opportunities through M4A drives our board and junior board to do extraordinary things. On Sunday, March 17th, one of our board members, Jason Rich, and a member of our Music for Autism family, Jamie Mittin, ran in the New York City Half Marathon. The funds they raised during the race were donated to M4A.

Jason Rich highlights that racing for your favorite charity is “a great opportunity to draw attention to causes of interest to you”. He advises anyone interested in running to invite family and friends to donate to their cause roughly once a year. “It really changes the impact of the race. If it’s big enough for you, it’s big enough for someone else,” Jason added. In 2011, Jason ran the NYC Marathon for Fred’s Team at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer & Research Center.

Jamie Mittin has been a long-time fundraiser for Music for Autism. Last year Jamie raised $2,500, and this year Jamie raised $1,723 for M4A using a platform called CrowdRise. We are so grateful to have such a charitable family with so many talents!
