Alan Paul Memorial Concert Series Kicks Off

by Pat Blute.

Please join us on April 20, 2013 as we kick off the Alan Paul Memorial Concert Series in Rockville, Maryland at the Ivymount School. We are so proud to join the family of Alan Paul in honoring his memory through wonderful, enriching concerts at Music for Autism.
Alan had a great love of music. When Alan moved to Maryland at eighty years old, he talked to a lot of his neighbors at Fox Hills Community about this particular passion. His talks were so highly regarded, Alan gave a community wide speech about the big band era. The event was well attended by the residents. In his usual fun and lively style, Alan prompted family and friends to share in another of his passions at the event – dance.
We are proud to share in the joy of music and dance through this memorial concert series. Alan’s family and friends were able to raise $8,000 to fund these concerts. His daughter, Mindy VanValkenburgh, suggested the family do something to honor Alan’s love of children and music. Joy Paul, Alan’s daughter-in-law, said the family has “very dear friends with children who have autism… we were moved by this great organization.” Pictured is Alan with his loving grandchildren.
