Alexander Claffy is a New York City-based bassist and bandleader who grew up in a musical Philadelphia household and learned through early experiences on the bandstand. He has studied double bass with Ron Carter, Dwayne Burno, and Orin O’Brien. Since moving to New York in 2011, Claffy has performed with artists including Jimmy Cobb, Louis Hayes, Harold Mabern, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Christian Scott, Joey Alexander, and Wallace Roney, and has recorded for Verve, HighNote, Posi-Tone, Ropeadope, and LaReserve.
